Ambiente recently participated in an experiential training workshop facilitated by Eric Sampson of Connect Communication. A big thank you to Studio City who agreed to host the workshop at their training centre. Ambiente team members paired up with those from Studio City.
“Promises, Promises!” is one of Canadian training company Eagle’s Flight’s suite of workshops. It focuses on trust, effective communication, teamwork, maximizing resources and developing a common vision. It helps people understand how their role impacts company-wide goals. Teams experience why the interdependence between teams is critical to overall success.
Teams were assigned to be representatives of various countries, having been elected in by their constituents on the promise that they would ensure sufficient wealth, food and a clean environment. They need to fulfill the promises they made no matter how outrageous! Operating in an environment of scandal, intrigue, and politics, participants grappled with the needs of their constituents and neighboring countries and waded through cultural barriers, lack of trust and poor communication to meet their goals. Alliances were made, abandoned and reformed but before the end of the five-year term, all countries became a truly United League of Nations.
In forcing people to deal with the pressures and obstacles of interdependent teams, Promises, Promises! powerfully demonstrated to the participants the strong relationship between quality communication and quality results. To meet their goals and become a United League of Nations, all teams had to get the right resources to the right people according to their needs and deadlines.
