Macau New Neighbourhood is one of the first signature initiatives to attract Macau residents to Hengqin. It is expected to house a community of 12,000 to 15,000 inhabitants.

The main structures of the 27 residential towers and school buildings of the Macau New Neighbourhood on Hengqin Island have been topped out, with the residential units expected to go up for sale after their renovation completes in the second half of the year.

Government-owned Macau Urban Renewal, a company responsible for the building of the project, announced today (Thursday) that construction work on its main structure finished at the end of December 2022, and that refurbishment work is currently being carried out at the residential units.

It is expected that the whole project will become complete in the second half of 2023, with preparations being made for the sales of the residential units.

Residents will be able to move in as soon as 2024, if the construction project is completed in time, acting deputy director of the People’s Livelihood Affairs Bureau of Hengqin Feng Fangdan said last year.

The construction of the residential compound began in 2021. It consists of 4,000 residential units for sale and over 200 units reserved for professionals deemed important to the development of the Zhuhai island.

It has a total of 27 residential towers with 19 to 26 floors, where a typical floor has seven to eight units. Among them, 80 percent are two-bedroom units with a gross floor area of approximately 88 square metres, and the remaining are three-bedroom units with a gross floor area of approximately 118 square metres.

The neighbourhood is equipped with amenities and facilities such as a kindergarten, a primary school, a healthcare centre, a service centre for the elderly, a family service centre, and an underground car park, as well as 5,000 square metres of commercial space.
